On Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., the local pregnancy resource center, Birth Choice, hosted a “Walk for Life” fundraiser at West Jackson Baptist Church.
A crowd of about 200 locals gathered to walk the 1.5-mile path around West Jackson. Whether by participating in the walk or honking in support as drivers passed by, Jackson residents showed their support for the pro-life movement.
Supporters also included vendors ranging from concession stands and local chefs to Scarlet Rope and Tennessee Right to Life, nonprofits similarly advocating for life.
“The main mission of the walk is to … help save babies,” Director of Development at Birth Choice Tiffany Dawson said. “It’s helping save babies from abortion and helping share the gospel with families around West Tennessee who are facing unplanned pregnancies.”
She believes the walk is a chance for the community to gather “in solidarity for the cause of life,” Dawson said.
Locals backing a variety of organizations and missions are able to gather in unity to stand for life.
This is what Natalie Bray, a senior double majoring in theological studies and biblical languages, especially valued about the walk.
Though pro-lifers appear to have an uphill battle in their fight, “At the same time we have people that are fighting along with us and who love the unborn and who love the mothers and the people involved enough to … make a stand in their community and walk,” Bray said.
Similarly, Peter Holmquist, a returning participant in the walk, Union University alumnus and long-term champion of Tennessee politics, spoke on the impact the walk has on the local pro-life movement.
“[The walk] also gets people in the pro-life movement out to see other organizations that are working alongside Birth Choice,” Holmquist said.
He saw the opportunity the walk provides for individuals to gain exposure to more of the pro-life movement in Jackson.
His hope for the walk moving forward, as is the hope of every pro-lifer and every participant in this walk, is to increase the number of babies saved from abortion each year.
