The Cardinal & Cream is a student publication of Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. Our staff ranges from sophomores to seniors and includes a variety of majors — journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing, digital media studies, graphic design and art.
We publish our daily news, sports, arts & entertainment, and feature stories online. Once a semester, we publish a magazine-style issue of Cardinal & Cream, featuring more in-depth articles, photo essays, illustrations, interviews, poetry and fiction. Abigail Van Neste, Editor-in-Chief
Abigail Van Neste is a junior journalism major who is currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of Cardinal & Cream. She strives to produce writing that points to Christ’s redeeming work in her life.
Norah Taylor, Co-Managing Editor
Norah is a senior digital media major at Union University. She serves as Co-Managing Editor of Cardinal & Cream. If you’re looking for her, she is likely off doing something incredibly nerdy.
Darby Robinson, Co-Managing Editor
Darby is a senior journalism major at Union University. She serves as Co-Managing Editor of Cardinal & Cream. She’s an avid reader, big sports fan and loves spending time in nature.
Laura Smith, Features Editor
Laura Smith is a sophomore Creative Writing major from Nashville, Tennessee. She loves to read, hike, and hang out with friends. She’s thrilled to be part of the team this year!

Jonathan Litscher is a senior Exercise Science major who serves as the Sports Editor for Cardinal and Cream. In his free time, he enjoys running Cross-Country, playing or watching any sport, and playing board games.

Olivia Ten Napel, Lead Photo Editor
Olivia is a senior digital media communications major. Introduce yourself and talk to her about anything music, post-apocalyptic media, or philosophy related! When she isn’t dancing, she is capturing her favorite aspects of God’s Creation with photography: people and nature. Or she’s thinking about key lime pie.

I really enjoy the “Cardinal & Cream” stories. I am a freshmen here at Union and I am interested in maybe making a story of my own on here. I love writing and it seems like fun to be able to post stories and other things with giving insight on the things that are happening here at Union University. It’s cool!
