OUM Continues With Global Focus Month

The Office of University Ministries continues its Global Focus Month this week with two events, the Guys’ Grill Out Monday, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m. and GO Trips 101 Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m.

Both events focus on providing conversations about the work of the OUM and information on the opportunities offered to students.

The Guys’ Grill Out was postponed from earlier this semester because of issues involving quarantined organizers but will now be taking place on the Bowld Patio Monday. For those in attendance at the event, free burgers and sides will be provided and several yard games will also be available.

The organizers of the event hope to create a chance for conversation about opportunities to serve both the Union community and Union’s missions partners, both foreign and domestic.

“It’s basically just an opportunity for some of the guys who are familiar with the OUM to share their knowledge and build relationships that will hopefully lead to discipleship down the road,” said Chandler Haynes, senior Christian studies major and organization leader.

GO Trips 101 will provide information about the yearly missions opportunities hosted by the OUM. It will be held in the Bowld Gym and will feature a panel of students who have participated in a GO Trip over the summer. The event is open for anyone to attend.

“At GO Trips 101, you get to hear from previous GO Trip participants about trusting God in the midst of uncertainty as you think about going in obedience to the great commission,” said Hunter Wilson, junior biblical studies major. “You learn more about what it looks like to go on a GO Trip and how God works through decisions and uncertainty.”

These events are a part of the OUM’s Global Focus Month, which serves to encourage student participation in GO Trips and other opportunities to serve.
