Volleyball Program Prepares To Host Trivia Fundraiser

Union’s volleyball team is hosting a fundraiser trivia night this Thursday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m. at the Twin Oaks Venue in Humboldt in hopes of acquiring funds for use both on and off the court.

The fundraiser is of high importance to the Lady Bulldogs, as it allows the program to take advantage of extra opportunities and provides for the purchase of better equipment. Lisa Hamilton, a sophomore on the team, noted that the money raised from past events made it possible for the Lady Bulldogs to participate in more tournaments and therefore gain more experience in their craft.

The funds that are raised are also allocated for team mission trips. It is important to the players that the program is able to impact the world around them in more ways than one. The team is looking forward to this year’s event, in hopes that it provides the opportunity for more missions work.

“Our mission trip to Jamaica that we took over spring break was made possible for a lot of girls on our team because of funds we raised at trivia night,” said Hamilton. “I know we’d like to do more trips like that in the future.”

For those who attend the event, there is a night of trivia complete with prizes.

“Anyone who enjoys friendly competition, trivia or silent auctions should come, said Hamilton. “Just find a team of four, get a table and play to win.”

The cost for one table is $100, but for that price one can expect to benefit a good cause, all while making a few memories along the way. Cardinal and Cream’s own Ted Kluck recalls getting to witness the competitive edge of a fellow faculty member, Dr. Gavin Richardson, at the event last year.

“It was really fun to see him answering every question and to see his confidence build with each correct answer,” said Kluck.
