Annual Bingo Night: SAC’s Most Popular Event

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the Student Activities Council (SAC) hosted their annual bingo night in the Brewer Dining Hall on Union University’s Jackson Campus.

Every year, SAC holds their bingo night, and it has always been one of the most popular events on campus. SAC does a fantastic job of not only advertising for this event, but also ensuring everyone has a great time playing. With food, music and a couple of rounds of bingo, this event is a solid study break for all students.

“My favorite part about bingo night is seeing everyone come together. The tables in Cobo were more full than I’ve ever seen them,” said Naomi Mengel, a freshman journalism major and member of SAC. “The competition may have gotten a bit intense, but it was cool to see so many people hanging out and singing along to ‘Love Is an Open Door’ and ‘Party in the U.S.A.'”

Whether it is giving out free candy, pizza or color changing cups, SAC steadily strives to provide students with a fun time. One reason the turn out is so impressive at bingo night is due to the $1,400 worth of prizes that students have the potential to win throughout the evening.

This year, the prizes consisted of two Popsky record players, a Toshiba FireTv, a Keurig, a JBL wireless speaker, an Amazon Echo, a Roku media player, a Fire TV stick, two Enos, a GoPro Hero 5, a Polaroid camera with film, two Memphis Grizzlies tickets, two Nashville Predators tickets, Apple Airpods, two Zaxby’s gift cards, three Chick-Fil-A gift cards, three Starbucks gift cards, a $50 Visa gift card and a $100 Visa gift card.

Kristen Chance, a senior business administration major, was the first winner of the night and went home with an Amazon Echo.

“Tonight was my first bingo night! I regret waiting until my senior year to go to one,” Chance said.
