Chuck Lawless Set To Speak At Faith In Practice Chapel Series

University Ministries will host a Faith in Practice chapel series, a week set aside each year to teach students how to practically live out God’s global purpose in each of their lives, on Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 17-19, with guest speaker Chuck Lawless, a professor, dean of doctoral studies and vice president of spiritual formation and ministry centers at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Lawless works as a team leader of theological education for the IMB and serves as a dean and professor of the Billy Graham School of Missions and Evangelism. He is also the president and founder of the Lawless Group, a church consulting firm.

He is also the author of several books, including “Discipled Warriors” and “Nobodies for Jesus.” He currently lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with his wife, Pam, of more than 20 years.

“Dr. Lawless is a gifted communicator who is passionate about investing in students’ lives,” said Joe Ball, director for discipleship and ministry for the Office of University Ministries. “His chapel messages will encourage our campus to realize God’s work in our lives and how each follower of Christ can invest in others.”

Michael Wilson, a junior family studies major, is excited to hear Lawless speak at the Faith in Practice chapel series and said he has been inspired by many of Lawless’s works.

“I am looking forward to hearing Dr. Lawless in chapel this week,” Wilson said. “His leadership at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary has been very influential for my search in seminaries that faithfully raise up leaders to serve the Church- capital C.”

Lawless will be speaking on the reality of spiritual warfare in college students’ lives and how to walk faithfully with God. Ball said he will also spend some time encouraging students to invest in each other’s Biblical formation by mentoring and discipling each other.

Lawless has spoken in chapel several times over the years, and Ball said he has always encouraged our campus through the preaching of the Word. Ball hopes this week will be a time that students are encouraged to grow in their relationship with Christ and to realize the opportunity to invest in each other’s spiritual lives.
