Union Women’s Volleyball Looks Ahead With Confidence After Loss To Christian Brothers University

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Union University Women’s Volleyball faced off against Christian Brothers on Tuesday, Sep. 30, at Canale Arena. The Bulldogs were defeated in three straight sets, 25-22, 25-13, 25-13.

This loss brings Union’s record to 2-9 and leaves them 0-4 in the Gulf South Conference.

Union remained competitive early in the first set but lost 25-22, with four kills from senior Natalie Supine and freshman Elizabeth Gilbert. Both finished the match with six kills each.

Supine said the team is continuing to focus on playing more cohesively.

“I think it really comes down to continuing to play together,” Supine said. “We’ve all agreed that when we’re connected and trusting each other on the court, that’s when we’re at our best. So the goal is just to keep building that chemistry and translating it into wins.”

Christian Brothers controlled the second set, maintaining offensive pressure. Union was unable to shift momentum and dropped the set 25-13.

In the third set, Union kept the score close through the first half but lost 25-13.

Despite the unfavorable result, Union recorded consistent individual performances and moments of effective team play. Freshman Kylie Creech added 14 assists to set up the offense, while senior Marie Torosian led the defense with 16 digs.

With several matches remaining in the season, the team is focused on improving to win their next match.

“What gives me confidence is knowing the skill is already there,” Supine said. “For us, it really comes down to the team aspects — playing together, trusting each other and competing as one. Those are things we can control and keep improving on, so I believe we can finish the season stronger.”

Union will travel to Montgomery, Alabama, to face Auburn University Montgomery on Oct. 4.
