The Lady Bulldogs Soccer Season Comes To An End At Home Against Valdosta State

The Union University Lady Bulldogs ended their season at the Smith Memorial Soccer Complex on Wednesday, Nov. 5. with a 3-1 loss to the Valdosta State University Lady Blazers.

The Lady Bulldogs had a promising start with a goal in the sixth minute by junior forward Rebekah Jackson. There were several other goal attempts, but none could quite find their way into the net. Valdosta State responded with two goals in the first half, leaving the score 2-1 at halftime.

The Lady Bulldogs fought hard in the second half, but the Lady Blazers scored again, ending the match 3-1 at fulltime, bringing the Lady Bulldog’s 2025 season to a conclusion.

Junior sports management major and outside defender Tessa Erzen reflected on this year’s season.

“It’s always a bit disappointing to not get to all the places we wanted, but I think there’s a lot of things we can take from it. I think we’ve learned a lot about ourselves and about the conference as a whole,” Erzen said.

“With each class coming in, we’ve been wanting to build from the past season. I think trying to leave the program better than we found it is something big our class is looking forward to.”

The Lady Bulldogs plan to keep moving forward through the offseason, already training and preparing for the 2026 season.

“It’ll be a spring of fixing some things that need to be smoothed out and growing, looking at what we need to fix and what went well,” Erzen said.

“No matter what happens on and off the field, you always want the team culture to be good.”

The Lady Bulldogs ended their season with an overall 4-7-4 record and a 3-7-2 conference record. They ranked 10th in the Gulf South Conference. The Lady Bulldogs will be back in the spring semester with several spring games, as well as traveling to Argentina for a team mission trip.
