Enactus Hosts Righteous Risk Conference

On Friday, Sept. 19, 8:30-11:30 Union University’s Enactus chapter hosted the annual Righteous Risk Conference in the Ethos Forum Conference Room. The event invited students and faculty to explore how faith can be integrated into the business marketplace across a variety of specific fields.

The conference is part of the Faith Driven Entrepreneur Conference, a global watch party held annually to connect like-minded entrepreneurs in communities around the world. Union’s local event reiterated the importance of boldness, encouraging participants to take greater risks when living out their faith in professional contexts.

Speakers and discussion segments demonstrated how faith-based initiatives are being carried into areas such as buisness, education and entertainment. The conference featured speakers including Bear Grylls, Fancis Chan and Mark Grunden, all sharing insights in how they carry boldness and faith into the buisness sphere. One example addressed how Christians in media, including Hollywood, can succeed professionally while remaining faithful to the Gospel.

Jacqueline Harris, a junior business administration major and president of Union’s Enactus, noted that the workplace does not primarily need more information but rather examples of faith lived out with encouragement and authenticity.

“Christians can be successful in society receiving our work while spreading the Gospel,” Harris said. “People in the business marketplace do not need more people giving them information in a society where information is at our fingertips.”

Students attending the conference reflected on how the event challenged them to think differently about the role of risk and faith in their careers. By connecting Union’s campus to a global movement, the Righteous Risk Conference reminded attendees that the integration of faith and business requires courage, creativity and conviction. For Enactus, the event also highlighted its mission of developing student into leaders.

“Overall, the conference was far better than expected,” Harris said. “It seemed everyone that attended walked away encouraged and inspired.”
