PERSPECTIVE: Cardinal & Cream starts corrections box

By Katherine Burgess
Managing Editor

Errors sometimes slip into the paper. We at the Cardinal & Cream know that as well as any news source.

Sometimes it is a misspelled name. Sometimes we mess up someone’s title. Sometimes we misidentify a photo. Sometimes slightly sillier things happen — as with our last issue.

But while it happens, it is not acceptable.

Beginning with this issue, the C&C will run a corrections box.

By doing so we will own and correct any errors we make. More important, we will strive to keep all errors out of our paper.

I’d like to think that someday we might be able to get rid of the box.

For our readers, if you catch an error in the paper, please help us to account for our mistakes by letting us know.

And so for our very first correction of the year, I’d like to clarify that — contrary to the front page of our last issue — the year is, in fact, 2013.

Corrections to Volume 97, Issue 7

An assistant news editor’s name was misspelled on Perspectives A3. The correct spelling is Bridgette Steiner.

Two universities were misspelled on Sports A12. The correct spellings are Trevecca Nazarene University and Freed-Hardeman University.

Rachel Clardy was identified on Sports A11 with two different majors. Her actual major is business administration management.

If you find any errors in the Cardinal & Cream, please notify us at katherine.burgess@my.uu.edu or beth.byrd@my.uu.edu.
