Breaking Bread

Dear Hungry Unionites,

Some days, I’m simply in the mood to cook.

That mood struck all weekend long, as I cooked everything ranging from banana-apple bread, to chicken pasta soup, to butter cake with brown sugar glaze. Yum!

The only pictures I managed to shoot, however, were of the bread. It was super easy to whip up and smelled like fall (or just cinnamon — I often associate the two as the same thing).

If you have a basic bread recipe — with the normal flour, sugar, baking soda, etc. amounts — all you need to do is add about four bananas and one-to-two apples, a teaspoon or so of cinnamon, and voila! Your kitchen smells like an autumn wonderland, and you’ve got bread that tastes like heaven. If you’re really adventurous, you may even add about half a cup of walnuts or pecans.

As peppermint-flavored everything is just around the corner, enjoy the fall scents while they’re still in season!

Until next time,

Beth
