Senate adjourns until next semester

Senate held their last meeting of the semester last night.

During the meeting, senate was updated on the status of previous bills and the treasury and was presented with two new bills.

The first bill presented was for $200 for Zeta Tau Alpha to put toward a tailgate party. The party is for all of Union before a home baseball game May 3.

Representatives of the bill explained that their hope with the tailgating party was to draw more people to come to the game to support Union’s baseball team.

The bill passed, and Zeta Tau Alpha was given 200 dollars towards their event.

The second bill was for the provision of draft guards for the Heritage Residence Complexes.

The representative of the bill explained that the doors in the Heritage area have bad draft and not only is it uncomfortable for the students living there, but it increases utility costs for Union.

The bill passed almost unanimously.

The treasury update showed that at the beginning of senate, the remains funds were $250. At the end of senate, after the tailgating bill passed, the final balance was $50.

Nathan Van Neste, student ambassador, updated senate on the status of previously passed bills.

The new open dorm hours will go into effect at the beginning of next semester. The bill to repaint the parking spot lines will be implemented during the summer.
