The competition consisted of the top fifteen Division III teams across the southeast, including Rhodes College, the University Alabama Huntsville and Spring Hill College.

The best game for the Union Jaxx was the semi-final game against UAH.  At half time, the team was down by a score of 4-7. The Chargers went on to a 5-2 point run, making the score 12-6. However, Union Jaxx fought back in order to win the game, making the final score, 13-12, thus making it to the championship game against Georgia College.

Stephen Lewoczko, sophomore history and education double major, credits Union Jaxx’s coach, Harrison Hayes, for giving the team motivation to constantly be better and the will to win once the team was down in the second half.

Despite Union Jaxx’s effort in the semi-final game, they came up short in the championship game. The final score was 13-8, Georgia College.

“The goal of the season was to win conference,” Lewoczko said. “But we met our expectations.”

Union  Jaxx played eight games throughout the duration of the tournament. Their overall record for the weekend was 5-3.

“It doesn’t matter who you play. It matters who you play for,” Lewoczko said. “We just wanted to give our best for our fans that were there and also give our best for God.”

Looking forward to next year’s season, Union Jaxx has all the team members returning except three seniors, Dalton Deluca, senior economics major, Andrew Stricklin, senior chemistry major and Stephen Wunrow, senior biblical studies major.

One of the strengths Lewoczko believes the team will have next year is their depth.

“We have a lot of young players that have stepped up,” Lewoczko said.

This tournament concludes the 2014-2015 season for the Union Jaxx.
