If he is not on the baseball field, at the Lambda Chi Alpha house or in the library studying for his next test, you can find Gray Hamilton watching “The Office” on Netflix in his dorm room.
The cell and molecular biology major is learning to balance the life of a student athlete and fraternity member while maintaining a high GPA. In addition to this hectic lifestyle, he is taking on these responsibilities as a freshman who is still adjusting to life away from home.
“Time management is the biggest challenge I face. It gets hard trying to balance everything sometimes,” Hamilton said.
He said he is looking forward to the start of baseball this spring. Through conditioning and workouts, he is spending much of his time in preparation for the upcoming season. He’s also excited to get his chance on the mound at the collegiate level, representing the Bulldogs.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity to play baseball here,” said Hamilton.
Hamilton recently accepted a bid from Lambda Chi Alpha. He is excited for the opportunity to serve and lead on campus and in the community through his fraternity.
One of the main draws Union University had to Hamilton was that it is close to his home. Being from Dyersburg, Tennessee, it is fairly easy to make a trip home if he needs something, wants to visit with family and friends or just simply is feeling homesick.
“I stay pretty busy so I don’t go home often, but just knowing that I can if I need to is nice for me to keep in mind,” said Hamilton.
Hamilton also kept Union in his top college choices because of the Christian atmosphere cultivated on campus.
Now that he is here as a student, Hamilton says that the Union environment has been “welcoming and feels like home.”
