Flying Colours will return for one last “thank you” concert tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the New Southern Hotel at 118 E Baltimore St. in downtown Jackson.

The band of Union students and alumni has been playing together since 2007. Current student Thomas Griffith will join recent graduates Rob and Jay Griffith, Taylor Hare and Austin Gray. The Nashville natives have returned to their roots since graduating, but according to the event’s Facebook page, Jackson has played an important role in their journey.

After playing in several on-campus concerts over the past few years, Flying Colours has quite the loyal following in town.

“The cost is zero dollars, because this is family,” Rob Griffith writes on Facebook. “We hope it’ll be a good chance for us to catch up with you and to catch you up on some more specifics about what we’re working on, as well as to invite you to help with some of the bigger (and scarier) things we’ve ever tried to do.”

This will be the last opportunity to see the band perform live this year, but the men of Flying Colours are hard at work on new material. Tuesday night, concertgoers will hear the band’s plans for the next couple of years.

As an additional perk, the band is giving away CDs and T-shirts at no charge. Playing old and new music, celebrating with long-time friends and introducing their sound to a new generation of Union students, Flying Colours is sure to make Tuesday an evening worth attending.
