As a part of the annual faculty piano recitals presented by Union’s Department of Music, Professor of Music Terry McRoberts performed Feb. 11 at Hartley Recital Hall.

This was McRobert’s 22nd performance in the annual event. The recital was one of many that are scheduled by the music department for this semester.

The performance by McRoberts, titled, “Sound and Silence,” explored the role that silence plays in sound.

Most people are unaware of the important role silence actually plays in sound.

Some of the pieces included in the recital featured works by 20th-century composers Cage, Takemitsu and Messian and highlighted the silence found in music.

The next concert to be hosted by the department is at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.
