Joytime Ministries to host ‘Time to Shine’ concert with Britt Nicole

Time to Shine

As the end of the semester draws near, students can finally begin to get excited about upcoming summer plans.

For fans of Britt Nicole, an excellent way to start that summer will be at the upcoming “Time to Shine” event. Jackson-based Joytime Ministries will host Time to Shine, a concert featuring Grammy- and Dove-nominated musician Britt Nicole at 7 p.m. May 30.

Time to Shine will be held at The Barn at Snider Farms, near McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport.

Chick-fil-A is sponsoring the event and will provide concessions. Joytime Ministries is run by Joy Greene, associate professor of pharmacy practice at Union, who said that through the ministry she is able to connect with Christian music artists.

Greene said last year she hosted two events with Big Daddy Weave. Greene said it feels like there has been a lot of loss in West Tennessee, and she hopes the concert will be encouraging for the Jackson community.

“Britt Nicole, her ministry is focused on getting people to know who they are in Christ,” Greene said. “She wants to remind [others] what God’s word says about who we are in Him. She tries to build up truth in younger girls and boys and even college age. But [the concert is] for anybody.”

Greene began Joytime ministry two years ago when Tom Mapes, the Morning Praise Showhost for Jackson’s Dove 105.3 radio station, interviewed her for his show.

Mapes said an interview fell through and was connected to Greene through his daughter, Marcy.

Greene was new to Jackson at the time, but Marcy knew her because their sons played soccer together.

After interviewing Greene, Mapes asked her about working with the Dove and providing two-minute radio segments geared toward women that could be broadcast during the week. Greene considered, prayed and then agreed.

Since then Greene’s ministry has spread to 87 radio stations worldwide in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, London and Canada, Greene said.

“She is our gold standard; she is the one who started it,” Mapes said. “She is top notch and just inspiring.”

Greene’s two-minute segments play during the morning and afternoon drive times, Mapes said.

The intention here is to catch women on their daily drives to work and running children to and from school. In addition to her radio segments, Greene also appears on Mapes’ Friday airing of “Tom Mapes and the Sisters of Grace” show. Mapes said Greene was the inspiration for the start of that show.

“Tom Mapes and the Sisters of Grace” airs Monday through Friday, with different female co-stars appearing throughout the week.

Mapes said Britt Nicole will be on the cover of the April/May issue of the Women’s Journal, a locally produced free publication that can be picked up in the Jackson area.

“Little by little the Lord has opened new doors for me to go and minister to people,” Greene said. “[Joytime has] really been a wonderful opportunity for me to encourage others.”

Time to Shine tickets are available in advance at wwjoytime.org for $18 and are $20 at the gate on the day of the event.

VIP tickets, which include a meet-and-greet with Britt Nicole and preferred, indoor seating for the concert, can be purchased online at $35.
