Seth Guiler, a junior from Murfreesboro, Tenn. is a forward on the men’s soccer team.

Guiler is an electrical engineering major and has been playing soccer for 15 years.

Guiler was influenced by his older sister, Anne Peterson, formally Anne Guiler, who graduated from Union in 2012, in making his decision to come to school here.

“I chose Union because of the opportunity it gave me to play at a higher level of soccer, study a major I was interested in and I knew my sister had enjoyed her time here as well,” said Guiler. “My sister is someone whose opinion I think very highly of as she has always been a great role model for me.”

Guiler has also enjoyed the relationships he has been able to make in the last three years with his teammates.

“One of my favorite things about being on a sports team at Union is the group of guys I get to play with,” said Guiler. “I’ve built several great friendships with them and I believe this is what helps me continue to love playing soccer.”

This year Guiler has high hopes to make an impact as both an individual and as a team in the GSC.

“I would like to make an impact on the season, whether that is scoring goals in tough games, or simply challenging our defense in practice so they can be better prepared for games each week,” said Guiler.

“I also want to prove to the rest of the conference that the coaches were wrong as they voted our team in last place during the preseason conference predictions,” said Guiler. “For me, it is exciting to play with something to prove and I believe that drive can help us play with a little more heart and determination this season.”

In 2013 Guiler was named to the GSC Academic Honor Roll.

Off the field Guiler enjoys cooking different types of food including, but not limited to, Italian, stir fry, and breakfast foods. He is also a Young Life leader at the University School of Jackson and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha.

KayCee Lindberg, a sophomore from Clarksville, Tenn. is a member of the women’s golf team. Lindberg is a sports management major with an emphasis in marketing and has been playing golf for 11 years.

Similar to Guiler, Lindberg also enjoys the opportunities being a golfer has provided her with to get to know other people.

“I love being on a sports team at Union because of how much my team cares for one another and how much my coach cares for us,” said Lindberg.

“I also enjoy meeting different people from all over, and getting to know more about them after each round we play together,” said Lindberg.

An avid baseball fan, Lindberg’s favorite sports movie is Moneyball starring Brad Pitt. Her favorite professional athlete is Dustin Pedroia, a second baseman for the Boston Red Sox. Lindberg also says that if she were not a golfer, she would play softball since she loved playing it growing up.

This year Lindberg has several goals in mind for herself and for her team.

“This year I want to shoot in the high 70’s or low 80’s as an individual, and then as a team, I think we are very capable of finishing higher in the conference than we did last year,” said Lindberg.

“I love playing golf because it is a constant challenge, and every round is something new and different,” said Lindberg.

Aside from the golf course, Lindberg enjoys reading and watching crime shows. She is also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Sigma Delta.
