Students to serve community on annual remembrance day

Miller Tower

Tomorrow, Nov. 4, Union students, faculty and staff will take part in the 12th annual Campus and Community Day, a day of remembrance and service to the community. The event began as a way of giving back to the Jackson community after it reached out to Union during the tornadoes of 2002 and 2003.

Most classes will be cancelled for the day, and teams will serve all over the Jackson area at churches, schools, nonprofit organizations and more. The day will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a service for all teams in the G. M. Savage Memorial Chapel. Teams will then separate and go to their individual projects.

Students can sign up for a service project online. Some projects are reserved to specific organizations, but others are open to anyone. All students are encouraged to participate.
