Bulldogs stand tall against Shorter University

Union’s men’s and women’s basketball games against Shorter (Ga.) University on Feb. 23 drew more than 700 fans for this year’s Homecoming.

The Lady Bulldogs experienced a loss to the Shorter Lady Hawks 66- 57 that day.

Union was down 25- 24 at the half and kept the game close until Shorter pulled away late, hitting five free throws to seal the game.

The men’s team made key plays with 90 seconds left. The score was tied 63-63 when junior AJ Roberts hit a 3-pointer, putting the Bulldogs back in the lead.

A costly turnover put the Hawks within one point of tying the game with 30 seconds left on the clock.

The next possession and a timely steal by sophomore Corieon Pearson gave the Bulldogs a win over the Shorter Hawks 72-68.
