Whipped Cream Moments

Dear Hungry Unionites,

A day of cancelled classes means different things to different people. Some like to sleep in, while others may take the chance to do something fun.

Me? I travel home and study.

I know that may sound like a missed opportunity to enjoy a rare moment of freedom. But there are definite benefits to going home.

For instance, who else but your mom is going to bring you a steaming cup of hot chocolate while you’re catching up on homework?

Topped with a decadent swirl of whipped cream, my hot chocolate was slowly drained as I dreamed of the smell of warm molasses cookies coming out of the oven, of the smooth taste of pumpkin pie squishing on the roof of your mouth, of the saltiness of green bean casserole on my grandmother’s china. The cold days may be dreaded, but there is no other time when food tastes quite so good.

I’m ready for Christmas break and all of the food and festivities of the season. Aren’t you?

Until next time,

Beth
